What a journey it has been. And it doesn’t get more meta than this Tuesday's Season 1 finale of The Cusp podcast—my interview with two friends on the cusp of releasing this project.
I give all credit to my friend Brian. He suggested the idea, and we sealed the deal over beers on a cold night last Spring. We both love great stories, from ones we’ve shared with friends at Sunday night dinner parties to those we talked about when he and his partner Katie invited folks over one night for a short story party.
It’s a great example of the unexpected ideas and opportunities that present themselves across the life cycle of a creative project. So many people, with their influences and suggestions, have helped shape this first season of The Cusp. And it’s all the better for it because few worthwhile projects are the product of one person’s vision and creativity.
And so the tables were turned. I went from host to interviewee, looking forward to a moment almost three years in the making.
“I'm excited to announce that after many years, my personal passion project--The Cusp podcast--is launching next month! All of you helped make it possible. From providing sage counsel and sitting down with me to share your stories to reviewing, writing and designing content, this project has enormously benefited from your collective generosity of spirit and expertise. While I wasn't able to use every interview I did for Season 1, the simple fact that each of you listened to my idea and gave me time to explore it with you is incredibly special. I am forever grateful! Before the official release, I'd love to invite you to an intimate launch party to say thanks and get all of you amazing people in one room for some light commiseration. Can't think of a better way to keep the hopeful 2018 good vibes going.”
The stage was set. Brian and Katie, guest hosts, had their questions ready. So what was going on in my head and heart?
